Information

Leonardo da Vinci's The Room of Knots (Sala Delle Asse) stands on par with Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling regarding artistic merit. However, Leonardo's masterpiece remained concealed for five centuries.

The Room of Knots is situated on the ground floor of Milan's Sforza Castle, the dome ceiling, spanning 2,500 square feet, has faded to a blur of colors. Yet beneath the deterioration lies a hidden treasure, an extravaganza of knots, displaying 16 trees, many intertwined branches, and 37 gold leaf ropes meandering through a dense array of mulberry leaves.
